When someone gives you something like an iPhone X or a new console; does it satisfy you knowing that that person went out of their way to purchase you an expensive object?
Or, does it satisfy you knowing that you yourself went out of your way to give someone something that’s that expensive?
In the end, for me it feels much, much, better to give other people better gifts rather than just getting a gift for yourself.
If you like getting a better gift from your friends/family, good for you.
But the gift of giving other people something nice is much better than that.
